Welcome to the virtual DPG-Tagung (DPG Meeting) of the Atomic, Molecular, Plasma Physics and Quantum Optics Section (SAMOP)
20 - 24 September 2021
The conference, organised with the support of the Technical University Kaiserslautern, is jointly run by the SAMOP divisions Atomic Physics (A), Mass Spectrometry (MS), Molecular Physics (MO), Quantumoptics and Photonics (Q) and the newly founded division Quantum Information (QI), as well as the working group “Young DPG” (AKjDPG).
In addition to the sessions of the divisions with invited and contributed talks, the conference also includes interactive poster sessions with short presentations of all posters via video pitch.
Special highlights are the Symposium in honour of the DPG prize winners and the SAMOP Dissertation Prize symposium of the four selected finalists.
In the morning, the programme will start with two plenary talks (or tutorials) each day and a series of thematic symposia on various interdisciplinary topics. Furthermore, a lunch talk on the NFDI4PHYS initiative will take place.
Especially for young physicists, two tutorials are offered on Monday mornings.
The conference will also be enlivened by a virtual pub quiz on Tuesday evening.
The public evening talk on Thursday evening, which is open to the public free of charge, will be given by the designated DPG President and this year's Stern-Gerlach prize winner, Joachim Ullrich (PTB), on the topic „Messen und Wägen: Vom Urkilogramm zur Quantenphysik als das Maß aller Dinge“.
